My Backyard
This week in I
LA:
Reading
:
Students continue to study the characters in their independent reading books as well as our daily read aloud "The Misfits" by James Howe. Students will be looking at empathizing with characters as well as the role and importance of the minor character.
Writing
:
Students will outline their literary essay of the character from their independent reading book. This week, they will create strong topic sentences, textual evidence, and closing comments that support their thesis which will be used as the main focus for their essay showing character growth and change. Published essays will be completed 12/14/09.
Spelling/Vocabulary:
S
tudents will continue to work in designated groups based on individual spelling levels. Spelling rules, definitions, and use will be taught and practiced each day.
