FAIRVIEW INFORMATION MEETING FOR PARENTS

For parents who could not attend our Fairview Information Meeting, please
feel free to contact me about any questions that you may have. I would love
for all my students to attend, so please let me know about any concerns. An
information packet was given to attendees of the meeting. Those who were not
able to attend will receive the packet via their children.

On a side note, permission forms and payment information sheets were
distributed recently. Please be aware that the due date is January 15,
2010.

SPEAKING OF ... YOUR ECOLOGY UNIT TEST

Many of you did a great job on the Ecology Test. You either maintained your
averages, or else you improved. In ALL cases, the key is to evaluate your
method of preparation. Figure out which strategies worked and which others
did not. REMEMBER the difference between UNDERSTANDING something and KNOWING
it. To KNOW something is to OWN it.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING PREPARED

Congratulations to many of you who have wholeheartedly assumed the role of
responsible middle-school students. Your open-minded efforts to record
information, to be organized, and to be prepared are truly the beginnings to
gaining steady work habits. These habits will help you to grow as
trustworthy and dependable individuals.

For those who are already falling into the dangerous path of "forgetfulness",
please be cognizant that you are indubitably responsible for your growth as
an independent individual. Excuses are evasive reasons for shirking personal
accountability. It is only the middle of September, and I am reluctant to
say that some individuals are already coming to class unprepared. This will
most likely result in falling very much behind.

A FEW CONSTANT REMINDERS:

1. Please remember to have all your materials for class.
2. Use your agenda to record all information.
3. If you are ever absent, always check with your teachers for any work
that is missed - classwork and homework.
