Stephanie Margolies has been an educator in the East Brunswick Public Schools
since 1986. She has inspired thousands of East Brunswick students to
create a better world and has left an indelible mark on her Verbal Gate
Students’ lives that have brought them back to visit her after decades of
having her as a teacher. Mrs. Margolies’s classes are filled with life
lessons that promote tolerance and celebrate the differences of various
cultures and their traditions.
Ms. Margolies’s education and career began in New York City. In 1974,
Stephanie graduated Dean’s List and Cum Laude from Queens College City
University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Language
Arts and a minor in Social Studies. She received her Master of Science in
Education, also with an emphasis in Language Arts, in 1976 from Queens
College and her 30 above from St. Peter’s College. To add, Mrs. Margolies
has been the recipient of the state Best Practice Award and also received a
Certificate of Achievement Award from Phi Delta Kappa of Rutgers University.
In addition, in the year 2008, Mrs. Margolies received the Partner In
Excellence Award from the East Brunswick Education Foundation. Stephanie
began her career at P.S. 165 teaching remedial reading and math. She then
worked at a publishing house, John Wiley and Sons, for three years. However,
her love for teaching never left, and after her children were born, she
returned to teaching in a religious school where she also wrote curriculum.
In 1986, Stephanie became a GATE teacher in East Brunswick and has been
teaching the Verbal GATE program with great enthusiasm and passion. It is
apparent that Stephanie quenches her students’ thirst for knowledge, and
their appetites are whet for exploration in countless fields of study. In
fact, her previous students describe her class as a humanities class where
lessons are woven into the context of a thematic study. Countless students
have remarked that Stephanie’s classes teach content as well as life long
lessons.
Family has always been a source of pride and joy for Stephanie. She and her
devoted husband, Michael, have been married for over 35 years. They are
blessed with wonderful twin daughters, Geordana and Jennifer, who have also
chosen the field of education. In addition, Stephanie has four gorgeous
grandchildren that she adores.
Moreover, Stephanie is so grateful to her parents, Lucille and
Jack, for all of their love, support, and encouragement over the course of
her life. To add, mother in-law Doreen, has also been a great part of the
family’s life. It is evident that Stephanie’s family is very important to
her.
Mrs. Margolies is extremely grateful to be a teacher in the East Brunswick
Public Schools.
