                          	                       June 18, 2009

Queridos estudiantes,
I cannot believe that it is already time to say adiós! I feel as
though it was just yesterday that I was getting ready for a great new year
and meeting my new students. What I wasn’t quite prepared for was how
wonderful and smart you would all be! As you know by now, I love Spanish and
teaching it even more so, but you are the ones who make my days special.
Seeing you learn new things every day and make connections within the
language is so amazing to me and I am so lucky to get to be a part of it.
This class is especially important because you are my first period of the day
and I can always count on you guys to move to a new location, try out a new
activity and laugh all the way through it! You are all such easygoing people
and I truly appreciate that.
I have also gotten to know all of you and your diverse personalities:

Veronica: You came late in the year to our class, but your bright smile and
enthusiasm is so evident that it is hard to remember a day without you!

Nicole: Every day you come in the class with a great attitude to learn and
always a kind word for me! I really appreciate that. Your sisters are lucky
to have a role model like you!

Michael: You are such a bright kid and I can always count on you to come to
my after-school reviews! You take Spanish seriously and advocate for yourself
which is such an important thing! Thank you for all of your hard work.

Christian: Always the first to come in the classroom each morning! You have
such a can-do attitude and are someone I can always count on to help me out.
You never have a bad thing to say about anyone!

Victor: You are certainly a leader in the class. You help me pass out papers
and explain directions to some of the classmates who need clarification. You
are a wonderful teacher of the day and someone we can all rely on.

Ryan F.: Your haircut has certainly been the talk of many of the
classmates! Drawing pictures of you on the board has been argued over but
your happy-go-lucky personality is something we all agree on.

John: John Giiirges, we are very fortunate to have the esteemed actor and
video news castor in our midst. You have such a big personality and you make
learning fun for all of us!

Randy: What would we do without Randy?! From day one, you have been such an
enormous help to me. I cannot tell you how important it is to us that you
didn’t let being a cool 7th grader go too much to your head. Don’t forget
about us when you are a rad, professional BMXer…

Arnaldo: You are such a nice boy and make everyone feel comfortable around
you. You don’t try to hog the spotlight but you have been known to make a
few sly jokes now and then!

Riley: Another big bad seventh grader! You may not have realized it but you
have been such a leader in this class as well. People look up to you and I
am happy to say that you didn’t take that responsibility for granted. You
are a comic relief but we can count on you to do the right thing.

Jimmy: You always have a little smirk on your face whether you are up to
something tricky or not! It’s hard to stay upset with you when we all know
that you are intentions are really good. You make us all laugh and have fun.

Shelby: You are my right hand girl! Thank you so much for all of your hard
work and help throughout the year. You are so eager and your enthusiasm is
contagious!

Jazmin: Another character in the class, Jazmin you have such a great attitude
and spunk about you. You are so sweet and can be so patient when working
with others. I appreciate all the effort that you have shown this year.

Johanna: You have been improving since the day you walked into the class.
You have so much potential but I think maybe you are the only one who doesn’t
see it. I am so proud with the progress you have made this year…and
impressed with all of your different hairstyles!

Gerard: You have such a good heart and you really thrive when working in
groups. You never have a bad thing to say about anyone and you always are
ready to move on to the next activity. Thank you for being so attentive!

Tanvi: You are someone that I can always count on. You are always ready to
lend a hand and have been such a big help with getting the do-nows set up and
getting all the materials ready for the lesson! I am so lucky to have such a
helpful and smart student!

Ryan P.: You have been such a pleasant surprise! I didn’t know what to
expect before you got to the class but you have been nothing but a sweet and
smiling face. Your progress has been very impressive and I know that you
really care about doing well in school. Thank you for being so positive!

Herman: Whenever I get to talk to you one on one, I realize how smart and
funny you really are. I never have to worry about you getting your work done
and you never complain or have trouble getting along with anyone. This is
such a big help to me Herman!

Dan: We are so glad that you are a part of our class! Whenever you were
absent, I always had at least five students hoping to see you soon. You have
made an impact on us and you have such a great way about you! Thank you for
being so sweet.

Roshni: Although you are obviously brilliant, you never make anyone feel
badly for needing help. You are patient and kind with everyone and show
enthusiasm in everything that you do. You have also been an enormous help to
me in getting everything ready for the day!

Darius: Another very important video newsmaker, you are definitely a
character! You have such an infectious smile and a great way about you. You
find the balance between joking around and getting your work done.

Sarvar: You are such a great addition to the class! You come in without
missing a beat, and blow us away with how smart and attentive you are. I
wish you could have been here all year!

I am going to miss you all very much! Thank you again for making this year an
awesome one for me! Don’t forget to say hola to me next year! 

       Sincerely,

Susan A. Strauss

This class has been difficult for me at times but I learned so much
from all of you and I would not change a day of this year if I could. You
all have such different personalities and made me grow as a teacher through
all of the challenges you presented!
I am so happy to have gotten to know all of you and your diverse
personalities:

Murad: You have such a great attitude and you are always smiling, I am very
proud of your work in Spanish. You take risks within the language and that
is what it is all about! Thank you for your work this year!

Ahmed: I know it can be tough coming to another Spanish class in the middle
of the year, but you did a great job transitioning. You are an important
part of the class; I know that you will continue to do well next year!

Alec: You have definitely given me a run for my money this year, but I know
you have a big heart and good intentions. I will miss all of your wild
antics even if they did drive me a little crazy! Don’t give up on Spanish, it
might surprise you yet.

Brenden: You have been so patient and sweet. Thank you for doing all of your
work and doing the right thing without being asked to. I really appreciate
your great attitude!

Thomas A.: I know that you have done your work the whole year and
participated even before I had to call on you. You have also had a variety
of cool hats. I am very impressed with your progress this year!

Karen: You have been such a help to me this year! You are incredibly friendly
to everyone no matter what and very patient with all of your classmates. I
know that you will do awesome in your next Spanish class!

Shaurya: I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you. You have been so
friendly, hard working and had a great attitude throughout the year. I am so
happy that you come by and say hello to me when you see me in the hallway and
sometimes stopping by my other classrooms. You are very mature for your age
and I am so happy with your work in Spanish!

Brandon: Brandon, you have always done the right thing in class. You get
amazing grades because you put the effort forth and you deserve them. I know
this year has been hard on you but I thank you so much for your patience and
understanding! I have every confidence that you will keep up this great work.

Brian D.: You are always willing to participate, smile and help me out
when I need it. You have no idea what a help it has been to me. You have a
natural affinity for languages and I hope you realize how smart you are! I
hope you keep practicing Spanish at soccer games and practices!

George: I know this has not been the best class for you, but I believe in
you. You are such a good kid and I know you want to do the right thing. You
can be so funny and sweet and even if you don’t, I see a lot of potential in
you. I am very proud of the things that you did accomplish in Spanish this
year. Don’t forget about me next year!

Tommy G.: “Go for Gowins,” you have made me laugh from day one. You are
such a mature and honest kid. I know that you will do well in school because
you care about doing well and have confidence in yourself. You have been
such a help to me this year and I want you to know how much I appreciate it.
Good luck in Churchill next year! You will certainly be a leader there again,
make sure you use those powers for good.

Tom G.: You can be really awesome in Spanish when you put your mind to
it. You are incredibly smart and have a lot of potential. I have been able
to count on you a lot this year and I know what a good and funny kid you
are. I hope you will come back and visit a couple of times next year even
though you will be a super cool 8th grader!

Corey: You have such a great sense of humor. Sure, it’s not always perfect
for class, but I know that you will keep on using good judgment and do
awesome in school next year! I am so glad that I get to see you around the
hallways and you are very helpful to me. Make sure you come by and say hi to
me next year too!

Sahar: I am so happy to have had you in class this year. You are an
incredibly bright girl and you have a great attitude about school. I know
that you will continue to succeed in Spanish. You want to be able to say
that you can speak three languages, right!? Thanks for your hard work this
year!

well! You are such a sweet and helpful girl and I want you to know that I see
that in you. You have great potential for Spanish and for helping others.
Thanks for your effort this year!

attitude that you kept. You always said hi to me in the hallways and had a
smile on your face no matter what. I am so glad that you were in my class
this year. Maybe I will have your twin sister next year too!

Jeffrey: You are such a great kid and have been such a help to me this year!
You are always willing to help explain to others something if they didn’t
understand it. I hope you keep practicing Spanish with your family this
summer!

Hannah: You have been such a great help to me this year. You have used your
knowledge of Spanish to help others even when you didn’t have to. You have a
great way about you and you let me know when something really interests you
and you want to know more. I am so happy that you have been patient this
year when it has been hard at times.

Brian Park: You crack me up! I am so glad that you were in this class this
year because you are such a nice, sweet and smart boy. You are friendly to
everyone and care about school. I was always happy to have you come have
lunch with Moriah! I know you will do very well next year.

Kayla: I have to tell you how proud I am of you. You used your knowledge of
Italian to help you do well in Spanish this year. You always have your hand
raised and it makes such a big difference to me. I really think that you
have a talent for languages (and for hairstyles); I really hope that you see
that in yourself!

Andre: You have been such a nice helper to me this whole year. You go out of
your way to say a kind word to me and I truly appreciate that. You have

been hard to do.

bright and you help others whenever you can. You put a ton of effort into
everything you do and you make friends wherever you go. Thank you so much

already. You are extremely friendly and always do your work with a wonderful

I am going to miss you all very much! Thank you again for making this year an
awesome one for me! Don’t forget to say hola to me next year! 

       Sincerely,
