Dear Parents and Students,
It was a pleasure meeting all of you during Parent/Teacher Conferences to discuss your child's progress.
This month, we are reading the novel Number the Stars by author Lois Lowry. The class loves reading it
and are enjoying learning about World War II and how important friendship is. It is nice to see a genuine
love of reading in class. There are times they never want to put the book down!
In mathematics, the students are working with fractions. I encourage you to continue to practice daily
math facts to help your child succeed in class.
In science, we are continuing our unit of study of mixtures and solutions. The children enjoy working
on labs and experiments each week.
This is the time of year when spending time with family and friends during the holidays is so special. I
wish you all a wonderful holiday and winter recess.
I appreciate your continued support. I am looking forward to 2014 and watching my class learn and
"Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working
together is success."
