Thank you for all the goodie bags for the class. The children had a
fantastic day. We all enjoyed the bagel breakfast. Our poem and song was
perfect. Second grade did a fantastic job. I was very proud of them!!!!
Again, thank you for my tissues, paper towels, and wipes. If you haven't
sent them as of this writing, please feel free to do so after the vacation
break.
Phonics: We will be working on the or as in for, oor as in poor, our as in
tour. We are still working on doubling ending letters such as in hitting,
stopping, and remembering to drop the final e as in making. Contractions are
next.
Reading: This week we will continue to work on cause and effect and then
continue with character developing.
Math: We will begin double digit subtraction. Many are having difficulty
with two step word problems. Please spent time by asking the children to
show you how to do these problems. Practice is so important.
Grammar: We are still on verbs, present, now, time and past time. Keep
practicing possessives. Test after the holidays on this. We are also working
on the future tense.
Science: We began chapter 4.
Each Friday is bring a book to read day. I am finally seeing more children
reading during the day. We are slowly improving.
We still have so many on-going Wall-e projects. The children are having a
great time with our monthly poems. This month is cinquain. Ask them what they
wrote.
