The months of April and May find the students in Room 208 continuing their study of the Old Testament, particularly the stories of the Kings and the faith and courage of the prophets.

In our Language Arts classes, students witl explore the fascinating world of Maniac Magee, responding to the novel in discussion and writing. We are beginning to develop the thinking and prewriting strategies necessary to produce persuasive writing we can be proud of.

Students continue to emphasize problem solving in Math, especially those involving ratios, proportions, and percents.

In Social Studies, students will begin the exploration of the Byzantine Empire and Islam. Finally , we complete our journey with the study of the Middle Ages. We are especially looking forward to evaluating the importance of feudalism and the rise of the nation state.

We are eagerly anticipating our field trip to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA. We will be touring The Giant Heart: A Healthy Interactive Experience, view the 3D Theatre presentation of Mummies: Secrets of the Phataohs, and attend an Eye Dissection Workshop. We're looking forward to an exciting day!
