Irwin held a "Grand Opening" of its art museum in May of 2007. Stop by the
Art Studio hallway to see works by Monet, da Vinci, van Gogh, O'Keeffe,
Cezanne, Cassatt, Picasso and other famous artists. The museum is used as a
quiet place to for all Irwin students to study art. This project was possible
by a grant from the East Brunswick Education Foundation.
Fourth and Fifth Grade students use sketchbook journals in art class. These
visual diaries contain art history information about artists we study,
as well as personal sketches and writing entries. The purpose of these
sketchbooks is to enhance student understanding of curriculum artists and to
practice using the elements and principles of art. Each student creates
their own sketchbook journal during his or her fourth grade year. The
sketchbook journals travel with the students to fifth grade for use through
graduating from Irwin. This project was made possible by a grant from the
East Brunswick Education Foundation.
