November 18, 2009

Ann Marie called the Meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
President’s comments

H1N1 injectable vaccine only, to be given on Friday, November 20, 2009. A
reschedule date for the nasal vaccine has not been given to us yet. If
anyone has any questions on the vaccines, please go to ebnet.org for updated
information. If you have further questions, let Ann Marie know and she will
get an answer updated to the website in their FAQ’s section.

There will be a used game collection for our kids at recess. It was
especially suggested that Legos would be great, but any gently used games
will be very much appreciated.

There will be a meeting to discuss the picnic area and whether it is feasible
this year to upgrade it and possibly be able to use it on nice days.
Principal’s comments

Mr. Lieberman let us know that the kindergarten and 1st grade bathrooms had
an overhaul with a fresh coat of paint. In case the children mention it,
there was a test of the school’s lockdown procedures as well. There was a
student success assembly – 1 per marking period with the local cable channel
coverage. Parent turnout for open house this week was great; over 100
parents came for Education Week at Irwin.

Fundraising – Elaine Haney:

Tricky Tray has collected $53.00 to date. The next meeting will be December
14th at the school at 7pm. We are still collecting any baskets, unused items
in your homes, and any dollar amount you can donate.

We are cutting the check for the Marrero Family - $4281.74 from the Walk-a-
thon.

Kastle Kreations Catalog Sale – Items came in on 11/13/09, the company
donated a bicycle for our Tricky Tray

School Picture re-takes - November 19, 2009

The Boogie Bash was a great success and the DJ will be used for upcoming
events. Kathy Silberlight and Danjela Torres did an amazing job running the
event this year. There was discussion about older and younger siblings and
whether they should be allowed at the event. It was explained that it is
asked for them not to attend, to ensure we have enough room for our Irwin
students to enjoy the evening. It will be discussed at a later date whether
we leave it as it for next year, or whether it will be split in two – (i.e.
1.25 hours for the younger grades, 1.25 hours for the older grades.)

SEPTA – Adopt-A-Family sold 95 pies

Fifth Grade

Trip – Deposit and contract and completed – buses have been confirmed.

End of Year Ideas – Marianne Toich will be running this event on May 28th.
The same dj from the Boogie Bash has been contracted. Ideas for this event
are welcome.

Capri Sun – The school will receive two cents for every Capri Sun pouch. The
children in the cafeteria will be asked to throw away the straw and place
their pouches in a separate receptacle to be recycled. The PTA will
periodically send them to Capri Sun for the 2 cents per pouch. This will
begin approximately the 2nd week of December. This money will be used for
the Fifth Grade Committee.

Treasurer’s Report – Jennifer Choi

Kastle Kreations - Catalog netted $781.00, confirmed $4281.74 for Walk-a-
