AT THE LAST PTA MEETING....
Irwin PTA General Meeting Minutes
October 28, 2009
President Ann Marie Gilbert called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
Principal’s Comments:
Mr. Leiberman talked about violence awareness week at Irwin, the older
classes buddy with the younger classes.
Fundraising Events: Finished Business
Entertainment Books – Closed as of October 26th, this was a huge success and
netted over $1,800.00.
Spiritwear – All orders have been distributed to date.
Kastle Kreations Catalog Sale Closed as of October 13th.
Book Fair – October 22nd, 23rd and 26th. We will have another book fair in
March.
Walk –A-Thon which was held on October 8th due to rain the day before, this
was a huge success– over $4,000.00 was raised for the Marrero Family.
The retakes for school pictures will be on Thursday, November 19th
Fifth Grade Report:
The fifth grade trip will be at Pine Grove on Friday, June 11th; this will be
the 3rd year there.
Paint-A-Halloween Craft October 28th was a hit, the kids came to enjoy!
Treasurers Report –
Jennifer Choi, talked about the finished business, entertainment books
grossed $3,765, spiritwear $1,665,Kastle Kreations, $2,171 Book Fair
$2,073.58.
Cultural Arts – Julie Perrotta
April 6th will be Math Night at Irwin for 2nd and 4th graders
Corresponding Secretary’s Report and Membership Chair – Kathy Silberlight
No correspondence to report and a few more memberships came in.
Teacher Liaisons – Ms.Ivanitski was not in attendance. Ms. Fallon attended
and demonstrated the SMARTBoard for the meeting. Ms. Fallon showed us how
the Smart Response (remote control hand held device for each child) were used
for the SMARTBoards.
Just Because:
Bingo Night will be December 4th
Amandla’s Crossing and Irwin Adopt-A-Family will be the two causes we will
help this year.
