Week of January 4th 2010:
All 5th Grade Classes should take their rhythm sheets home(Numbers and "A"
Sheet) to practice with box step pattern. Students will be responsible for
bringing their practice sheets to music every music class:
Box step:
Beat 1 (front right)
Beat 2 (front left)
Beat 3 (back right)
Beat 4 (back left)
Students should practice saying and clapping rhythms not in parenthesis.
On the "A" sheet
Students will keep the box step pattern and tap their hands on their legs on
the off beat (a's) while chanting the numbers and "a's" not in parenthesis.
Student may bring in music from home to music class to use as background
music for the rhythm sheets. The music should be be in 4/4 time and should
be a comfortable walking tempo (not too fast or too slow).
Homework assignments are not typically given on a regular basis, however,
depending on the grade level and unit of study, students will be given
practice sheets, projects, and/or written assignments as it relates to our
class work. Students will write all of their music homework assignments in
their regular homework folders to be taken home. Please do not hesitate to
