Borrowing Policy

KINDERGARTENERS:
Students in Kindergarten will be able to borrow a maximum of one book for
use at home or in class during the week.

Kindergarteners will be given a library card during their time in the
library. If they borrow a book, the card will be placed inside the front or
back jacket of the book. This card is to REMAIN IN THE BOOK while the book
is being used at home or in class. If they don't borrow a book, the card
will remain in the library, to be available the next time a book is borrowed.

If a book is not returned whithin the week alloted, the child will not be
able to borrow another book until that book is returned.

Please make every effort to help your child maintain a positive book
borrowing experience with our library - by teaching your child to keep the
book in a safe place at home.

GRADES 1 THROUGH 5:
Students in grade 1 have the opportunity to borrow one book per week
for a period of one week. Students in grades 2 through 5 have
the opportunity to borrow two books at a time, for a period of two weeks.
A new book may only be borrowed if a previous book is returned. If the
student has an overdue book, no new books may be borrowed. Library
cards will be not used, but all borrowing activity will be recorded in the
Media Center computer.

The student's teacher and Mrs. Berzanskis as well as the class schedule will
determine whether or not books may be borrowed during class time in a given
week.

At certain times during the school year, the student's teacher may require
the student to borrow addtional book(s) for research or projects. In this
case, a student may have more than the allowed books out at one
time. The student has the same responsibility for taking care of all books
in their possession.

LIBRARY FINES:
Any student that has not returned a library book(s) by the end of the school
year will be charged for each missing book. If a book is lost during the
year, the student will not be allowed to continue borrowing until the book is
returned or paid for (cash only). If a book is found after it had already
been paid for and returned to the media center prior to the last day of the
school year, payment will be returned.
