MATH --

We have just begun unit 4 in math. This unit focuses on Fractions and Percents.

STUDENTS MUST PRACTICE THEIR FACTS!!!! I cannot emphasize this enough.

Please make sure your child practices concepts learned in class on a daily
basis because each lesson builds upon the one before.

Please remember that Tests and quizzes come home in the Friday Folders and
must be signed and returned.

Our math games are also a fun way to play with math at home. The rules to
these games can be found in the Math Journal.

Math homework is assigned nightly. Students will be informed about tests in
advance and are encouraged to practice the skills learned. Students will
also always have a review before the test to help them know what to
study. As a home reference, please utilize your Student Reference Book.

SCIENCE --
We are beginning our unit Levers and Pulleys. We will be building simple
machines in class and studying their advantages.
Please remember that Tests and quizzes come home in the Friday Folders and
must be signed and returned.

PLEASE REMEMBER: THE STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING THE THE NOTES THEY
MISS DURING CLASS. THEY ARE ALLOWED TO SHARE NOTEBOOKS WITH ANOTHER STUDENT
TO COPY MISSED NOTES.

Since our science program depends heavily on class experiments, the student
are becomming exposed to writing lab reports. Lab reports must be carefully
done and should be extremely detailed. Students are encouraged to ask
questions in class if they do not understand the expectations. There are
model lab reports and observation charts posted in the classroom at all
times. The students have also copied these formats in the back of their
science notebooks. Points will be deducted for each day that a lab report
is turned in late.

SOCIAL STUDIES --

We are beginning our unit on the 13 Colonies. This is an intense unit about
the New England Colonies, Middle Colonies, and Southern Colonies.

PLEASE REMEMBER: THE STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING THE THE NOTES THEY
MISS DURING CLASS. THEY ARE ALLOWED TO SHARE NOTEBOOKS WITH ANOTHER STUDENT
TO COPY MISSED NOTES. There is also a binder for class notes in the classroom
at all times. It is their responsibility.

In addition to our focus on history, the students also work with interactive
maps and atlases to study geography on a regular basis. We use Time for
Kids weekly to keep on top of current events and issues facing our world.

Please remember that Tests and quizzes come home in the Friday Folders and
must be signed and returned.

*Students who miss notes from class due to TAG, music lessons, Math Prime
etc. are required to get the notes from a classmate or the binder.
