Weekly Daily ILA Homework

Students should be prepared for class everyday. Please bring your reading notebooks, Writer's Notebook, and two independent reading books (in their bag that include a pencil, post-it notes, recommendation direction sheet, reading list and notecard) to class every day.

Important information for this week:

  • For the week of November 8th there will NOT be any word study homework, instead the students will be writing for 15 minutes a realistic fiction story 3-5 paragraphs on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Please check homework agendas for any daily homework changes.
  • There will be a Word Study quiz on Friday.

Monday:

  • Read 30-40 minutes .
  • Write 1-3 "stop n jots' of what you are thinking as your are reading.
  • Write 15 minutes (unless you handed in your notebook).
  • Student # 1-5 are to complete their reading letters if they have not been completed in school.

Tuesday:

  • Read 30-40 minutes.
  • Write 1-3 "stop n jots' of what you are thinking as your are reading.
  • Complete your Word Study Tuesday assignment stapled in your notebook.
  • Student # 6-10 are to complete their reading letters if they have not been completed in school.

    Wednesday:

    • Read 30-40 minutes.
    • Write 15 minutes (unless you handed in your notebook.
    • Write 1-3 "stop n jots' of what you are thinking as your are reading.
    • Student # 11-15 are to complete their reading letters if they have not been completed in school.

      Thursday:

      • Read 30-40 minutes.
      • Write 1-3 "stop n jots' of what you are thinking as your are reading.
      • Complete your Word Study Thursday assignment stapled in your notebook.
      • Categorize this week's meaningful "snjs" in stop n jot notebook.
      • Make sure this week's reading log is complete with recommendation cards of all books that have been completed clipped to the reading log.
      • Student # 16-20 are to complete their reading letters if they have not been completed in school.

      Friday:

      • Read 30-40 minutes (Sunday).
      • Write 1-3 "stop n jots' of what you are thinking as your are reading.(Sunday).
      • (Starting 11/ 13th) Color the back of next week's sort, highlight the bolded words or letters, cut out the words and place them in your ziploc bags. Place the ziploc bag in your Friday Folder for Monday's lesson.

      **General Information**

      • Read 30-40 minutes each night and record your "thinking" on your "stop n jots". Reading Logs should be signed by a parent/guardian nightly and handed in on Fridays.
      • Write in your Writer's Notebook on Monday and Wednesday nights for 15 minutes (Your goal is to write at least 3 paragraphs). Writer's Notebooks are handed in once a month.
      • Write in your Reader's Notebook a reading letter a week. This is done in school. If it is not completed in the alotted time the teacher will mark it HW and it is to be completed at home.Reader's Notebooks are handed in once a month.
      • PLEASE remember to bring your independent reading books and Writer's & Reading Notebooks to school EVERY DAY!
