 Does my child need to read nightly?
Yes, in order for children to become better readers they must read.

 How do I contact the teacher?
Write a note and send it in with your child. (Please make sure that your 
child is aware that they are to give me a note, to ensure I get it).

We have an ongoing "Portfolio Assessment".
Children are always being assesseed and taught at their own level.
