This week we are learning the letters Ww and Zz. Please review the correct
formation of these letters as well as the sounds they make. So far we have
learned the following letters Bb, Dd, Ff, Hh, Jj, Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn, Pp. Rr, Ss,
Tt, Vv, Yy. Please review all of these letters at home with your child.
We will also be learning the concept of addition by joining sets.
The children will also continuing to practice number recognition. Please
review with your child at home so that there are no reversals when your child
writes the numbers.
In Language Arts we will be writing about the holidays that families
celebrate. We will also be writing about gifts that we would give.
We will be working on Reader's Workshop in class. The students will be using
our book bins and choosing books and identifying any sight words that they
can find in the text of the book. We have assigned the children to reading
buddies. They will be reading the books that they choose and discussing them
with their buddies. The children are beginning to learn how to retell a story.
We will begin to learn about the winter season, and any holidays that are
celebrated in different cultures around the world. We are also learning about
the season of giving.
