How can I best help my child at home?
Please check your child's daily folder everynight to check for
the homework packet, journal, or any additional homework
assignments such as independent readers. Please reinforce the
skills that we are working on in class everynight.
Also, please read either to or with your child EVERY night for at
least 10 minutes if not longer. In order for children to become
better readers they must read.
How can I help my child with writing?
Make sure your child holds the pencil correctly, and forms the
letter strokes correctly.
Make sure you point out that when the letters are formed they
typically start from top to bottom, for capital letters and
middle to bottom for most lowercase letters.
Spacing is also important. Remind your child to put a "finger
space" between words so they can become familiar with the proper
spacing.
Can I send in goodies for my child's birthday?
You may send in small goody bags with little trinkets, such as
pencils, erasers, notebooks, coloring books, etc...
Or, you may send in a book to be donated to the classroom library
in honor of your child.
If you wish to send in a small snack, we ask that you send in
individual snack packs, preferably 100 calorie packs. We only
have 10 minutes for snack and that includes using the bathroom
during that time. The smaller the snack, the better.
How do I contact the teacher?
Write a note and send it in with your child. (Please make sure
that your child is aware that they are to give me a note, to
ensure I get it).
