How does the PTA help our school?

Our PTA sponsors a varied program of Cultural Arts Assemblies and
Author visits for our students. PTA also provides the Lawrence
Brook School community with fun family events, such as the
Kindergarten Ice Cream Social, Halloween Fun Night, Movie Night,
Bingo Night, roller skating and bowling events. Our volunteers
organize classroom holiday parties, help Field Day run smoothly,
provide refreshments at various school events, put together the
school’s Yearbook, and make special events possible for our 5th
Graders. The PTA also makes annual gift donations to the school,
such as the display cases for our students’ art work, Smart
Boards and accessories, Student Agendas, digital cameras, and
classroom supplies.

What are the benefits of joining the PTA?

More than 30 years’ worth of research has proven that children do
better when their parents are involved both at home and at school.
PTA connects you with the school community and is America’s
number one resource for parent involvement. PTA provides
opportunities to put your skills to work improving your school
community and shows your children the importance you place on
education. Our PTA is part of a National network offering
discounts, as well as information and resources to help your
child and your school. Visit www.PTA.org for more information.

Membership in the Lawrence Brook PTA enables you take part in
discussions at PTA meetings, to volunteer be a room parent, to
chair a committee or help out at an event or fundraiser, to run
for a board position and to take part in PTA budget votes and
election. PTA members are not obligated to volunteer, but may
choose to support PTA in other ways.
