Homework

Language Arts

Reading Log: Please have your child read for at least 10 minutes Monday thru Thursday. Have them fill in the log sheet and return it on Friday.

*Remind him/her to use the strategies for tricky words taught in school:
-Look at the pictures
-Sound out the word
-Think about what makes sense
-Cover part of the word

Continue to review sight words. As your child increases the number of words he/she recognizes, they will become a more fluent reader.

Have your child draw or write about personal experiences on a regular basis. They may bring these "writings" in to share anytime!

Math
Home Links will come home on a regular basis. Look for parents letters, which come home at the onset of each unit. These letters let you know what skills will be taught in the unit. They also contain extra examples and answers to Home Links.

Flash Cards are a great way for your child to achieve "fact power." This is the memorization of the basic math facts. Addition and subtraction fact 0-9 are focused on in first grade.
