Dear Parents,
Welcome to my website. I will try my best to keep everyone
updated with the information you need for school. I will have special events,
holidays and reminders for you each week. Please continue to look for new
information by viewing my website.
For Language Arts, we continue to work on the fundamentals of
writing words and sentences. We illustrate and write about a small moments
and always enjoy listening to stories and writing about them. I am very proud
of their hard work.
I continue to work on Guided Reading skills with your children in class and
really appreciate the parents taking time to read with their child at home.
To help them with their reading skills, here are some easy pointers to try at
home.
1. Have your child use their finger to touch and say each word.
2. Discuss the characters and the setting of the story.
3. Find the sight words on the page.
4. Have your child summarize the story for you.
5. Reward them with a big hug for doing a great job.
For Math skills, we will continue to work on counting by 5s and
10s.We began to do number stories using manipulatives. We worked with
measuring objects and learning about the four coins. We continued with money
exchange. ( 5 pennies for a nickel ) We can use the plus and equal signs when
we are doing simple adding also. Please work with your child writing the
numbers 1-20. Please also work on their address skills. (Town , street and state)
Please try and remember to return all homework and yellow
journals by Friday. The sight words need to go back into their folders when
you get done. We need them for class. Thank you.
Reminders: No School on Friday, February 12th.
