Dear Parents,
Welcome to my website. I will try my best to keep up on all
the information you need for school. I will have special events, holidays and
reminders for you each week. Please continue to look for new information.
For Language Arts, we have been learning the sounds of (D and L).
Next week, we will focus on the sounds of (N and R).We continue to do
independent reading in class and I am working on Guided Reading skills with
your children as well.We are focusing on learning about the beginning, middle
and end of the books. We discuss in class how they feel when they are hearing
a story and writing down their own thoughts about the story. We also discuss
the small moments they have in their lives and write about it. We have three
new sight words (and,like,is). Please review them with your child. Have them
find their sight words in books, magazines and news papers. Have them write
them in a simple sentence for practice.
For Math skills, we will continue to work on counting by 5s and
10s. We worked with measuring objects and learning about the four coins.
Please work with your child writing the numbers 1-15. Ask them what comes
before and after that number.
In Science, we created our own "Tree" books. We leaned about the
roots, trunk, branches and leaves.
Please try and remember to return all homework and yellow
journals by Friday. The sight words need to go back into their folders when
you get done. We need them for class. Thank you.
