Welcome to LVMS! House 6-1 teachers are excited to spend an
excellent school year with both students and parents. Remember to check
your child's agenda, as well as the Friday folder, for important information.
Dear Parents,
Your child has been placed in House 6-1 for this school year. This
handout is designed to inform you about the house teachers and some house
policies. Please familiarize yourself with this information, as it will be
useful to you throughout the school year. Welcome to sixth grade!

Give Us A Call
It is important for both parents and teachers to keep each other
informed for a successful school year. If you need to speak with a teacher,
feel free to call the school: 876-3434. Please be patient, considering we
are not always able to respond to your voice messages immediately.
Sick Days
If your child is out sick for two or more days, you may request the
missed work. You must call the office before 9:00 a.m. to give the teachers
enough time to collect the assignments for each class period. The make-up
period is one day for each day missed. Students should also check in with
each teacher when they return to school. Students may also check the house
web page for homework, if they are only out for a day!
Missing Work
We feel that as sixth graders, each child should be responsible for
completing assignments on time, as well as coming to class prepared and on
time. Lack of preparation, late work, and/or incomplete assignments may
result in a lower grade. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain
any necessary make-up work for completion. Flex is a built in flexible time
when most students can see teachers for make-up work. With the new rotating
schedule it is impossible for the teachers to keep track of each student’s
absences.
Homework
Home study is a necessary part of each student’s educational
program. Each student is expected to spend some time, in addition to class
instruction, to achieve satisfactory work. Some assignments may be long
term in nature, which require planning ahead. This eliminates spending too
much time on an assignment the day before it is due. The use of the agenda
is an easy and effective way for both student and parent to plan
accordingly. If you are unsure about the scheduled homework or upcoming
items, please check the house web page.
Missing Class
Any student who is not in class due to excusal for field trips,
band, student council, or other events is responsible for handing in the
day’s homework by the end of the day. He/She must also check with teachers
at some point during the day to receive the day’s work. These assignments
are expected to be completed at the same time as the rest of the class.
Work submitted later than the time allowed will be considered late.
