Homework for the week of September 14 – 18, 2009

- Welcome to the second week of eighth grade! We have had a busy week and everyone has been working so well.

- Reading & Writing Surveys: September is a time of new beginnings and reflection. We will start off the month with surveys on reading and writing habits. This will be followed up with discussions and the first opportunity to speak before the class.

- 1st Project: Poem Collage Presentation: Learning about each other and how to communicate thoughts and ideas to the class will be demonstrated with the I Am Poem/Collage Presentation.

- Personal Novel: Students will be bringing in a personal choice novel of at least 250 pages. They need to read approximately 15 pages a day during the week in order to complete a 250 page novel by October 7, 2009. If the weekend is utilized for reading, then daily reading is less. Please follow the time line below.

Students are to select and bring to school a self-selected novel of 250 pages or more by Tuesday, 9/15/08.

They are responsible to read 15 pages daily and complete their novel by Wednesday, 10/07/08.

As students read the novel, there will be daily responses to the literature that will be assigned by Mrs. Reade

and discussed in Book Clubs in class.

Novel project dates are listed above and students are responsible to complete them on time.
