Mon., 4/1: Continuation of note-cards for the research paper. A total of 15
note-cards must be submitted using at least 3 sources. Note-
cards will not be accepted after Thurs., 4/4.
Tues., 4/2: Modeling and completion of source cards. 5 source cards are due
on Wed. Extra help is available in class on Tues & Wed, as well
as after school throughout the week.
Wed., 4/3: Continuation of note-cards, working thesis, and start of
outlining/organizing materials for manuscript.
Thurs., 4/4: Note-cards must be submitted during today's class for credit.
During class we will be working on the formatting of the
manuscript as well as conferencing on progress thus far.
Fri., 4/5: All note-cards are returned for continued development of
research paper outline and preliminary steps. Conferencing
on progress and finalizing the thesis.
This is Week Three of the Research Process. You should be quite familiar
with your sources at this point, and be prepared to narrow your thesis focal
point in order to develop an outline and perhaps even begin typing the paper
before the week is through. Please be prepared with index cards and a
flashdrive throughout the week. Your rough draft (typed) is due on Thurs.,
4/11. You will have to work independently on the rough draft as we only have
two computer days allotted for such prep work (this Thurs & Fri). Next week
we will be continuing the carpe diem poems, and moving onto short stories.
Upon submission of your rough draft, we will be immediately starting excerpts
from Angela's Ashes.
Please be aware that although your source cards and note-cards count as test
grades for third quarter, your rough draft and final draft will count towards
fourth quarter. Plan and work accordingly.
