                              The Lenape Indians of New Jersey

1.  Native Americans - another name for Indians

2.  dialect - a variety, or form, of a language

3.  longhouse -  the kind of house built by the Lenape Indians

4.  celt - a large, sharpened stone with a wooden handle

5.  slash and burn - a way of preparing a garden that the Lenape used.  The
                     trees are first slashed, or cut, and then burned.
6.  maize - corn

7.  weir - a dam of sticks or fences
