What We Did Today

If you weren't in school today, this page will tell you what you missed.

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

We began the day with an assembly given by the Whiting Healthcare Center
on "Say Goodbye to Germs". When we got back to our classrooms, we did
today's MMM.

After Gym, in Language Arts, the class identified verbs in sentences and
created sentences using specific verbs. After that, Mrs. Tordik read and
chapters 14 and 15 of "Charlotte's Web", and then the class worked on
their "Charlotte Web of Words" packets.

In social Studies, we reviewed what we learned yesterday about the Lenni
Lenape Indians.

After lunch, the students explained what the Zero snd Identity Properties of
Multiplication are, &, using hunderd charts, the class circled the multiples
of 2, 5, and 10, looking for patterns as they did.

In Science, we discussed the important role sound plays in our lives.

Monday, December 7, 2009

We began the day by going over today's Spiral Review, & then doing a Mad
Minute Mad sheet (30 subtraction problems).

After Media Center, the class took this week's Spelling pretest, & then, in
Grammar, the students identified verbs in sentences. They then wrote
paragraphs and circled the verbs they used in their writing. After that,
Mrs. Tordik and Mrs. Carey read and discussed chapters 12 & 13
of "Charlotte's Web" to the class.

During 5th period, the class read about the first people of New Jersey, the
Lenni Lenape.

After lunch, the students were treated to a planetarium assembly.

And, during 8th period, most of the class had choir practice. Students who
stayed in class practiced their cursive, read, and watched a holiday video.
