Book Lists

Many parents have expressed an interest in finding age and skill appropriate books for children to start reading independently. At this point in first grade, your son/daughter should be starting to read books on their own along with continuing to listen to stories read to them. Many public libraries and bookstores have sections dedicated to easy readers and beginner chapter books. In addition, the Scholastic book catalogs that are sent home each month feature books recommended for first graders. Below are some choices to look for as you help to develop your child’s reading skills at home. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call.
