Meeting called to order by Jayne Norcross at 7:05
Reading of Minutes from June 2013 meeting: Waived
Corresponding Secretary Report:
Margie Abate shared thank you notes from teachers from teacher’s breakfast. Breakfast was a success and thank you Joy Curley for organizing. Jayne Norcross also mentioned that there are thank you notes from the 8th graders who received scholarships.
The July 31, 2013 report was submitted. We deferred discussion of the report until October 13, 2013.
The 2012-2013 school year closed with an End of the Year Dinner.
Indian Acres: It was confirmed with Mr. Hoffman that 10/18/13 can be booked for the event. The event was a success last year. It was proposed to have the zip lining event for the Principal and Vice Principals take place earlier in the evening at or around 6:00-6:30.
Picture Day: September 12, 2013. Volunteers were recruited to help keeping things orderly for picture day from 7:30 to 2:00.
School Wear: (Margie Abate) Pride Easy: There is an online link so that the school wear can be purchased throughout the year. Items including, among other things, long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts and sweat shirts are available. A flyer will be sent out (Pride Pack) with the link shortly. There will be the option to pay by check.
Pride Easy can also provide items for our new school store and Mr. Hoffman expressed an interest in having an inventory of 25 long sleeve shirts, 25 short sleeve shirts and 25 sweat pants, pens (lowest gross available) and pencils (lowest gross available).
Planet Green: A fund raising project that entails collecting ink jet cartridges and small electronics. Our school can earn money from the recycled cartridges that are collected as well as from the purchase of refurbished cartridges. Jayne Norcross has the sponsor letter and recommended that we forward the letter to employers or contacts, who could potentially support our fund raiser.
Vendor Night: Discussion regarding setting up a vendor night in conjunction with a school event such as a dance.
Audit Committee: Discussion regarding formation of same and three volunteers are on board for this committee: Tracy Kemble, Holly Zeitz and Celeste Rolon.
Back to School Night: September 17, 2013. An email blast will go out regarding food donations for the cafeteria. PTA will provide water bottles. (Margie Abate).
Will be deferred to October meeting.
Genesis Parent Portal: This is a new site that was rolled out this year. Schedules will be available on Genesis on 9/11/13.
Extended Homeroom: First two days of school (9/9/13 and 9/10/13). Code of Conduct explained on 9/10/13.
Nutritional Policy: New for 2013-2014 school year. Foods served in schools need to meet requirements including having nutritional value. Birthday treats are no longer allowed due to allergy concerns.
Red Ribbon Week: October 2013
Eighth Grade: Math in Focus implemented for 2013-2014 school year.
Roof of Marlton Middle School: July 2013, while in the process of installing the new roof, school sustained water damage. 22 classrooms impacted resulting in installation of new carpet and the replacement of ceiling tiles.
Mr. Hoffman advised regarding the following upcoming dates:
9/14/13: Use of chrome books starting with 6th graders.
10/11/13: Two hour delay for professional training.
