Dear Parents,

In order to ensure your child’s success in first grade and to maintain a 
comfortable learning atmosphere for a rewarding school year the following 
behavior plan will be used in third grade this year.  Please read and review 
with your child.

Together as a class, we have decided upon rules that we will work together 
to follow.  The rules are:

1.	Always try your best.
2.	Be kind and respectful to others.
3.	Follow directions the first time they are given.
4.	Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
5.	Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself at all times.
6.	Follow the “Character Counts” Traits.

In first grade we have a Stop and Think Light that helps us remember to 
follow our classroom rules.  If a rule is not followed correctly:

1.	Verbal Warning
2.	Student moves to yellow on the light as a second warning.  
3.	Student moves to red on the light.  The student will complete a 
Think Sheet, which is signed by a parent.  
4.	All of the above and sent to the Principal’s Office if necessary.

When the first grade works together and the rules are followed correctly 
there are rewards and benefits.  This includes:

1.	Stickers and rewards
2.	Homework passes
3.	Extra Free Time
4.	Lunch with the teacher
5.      Other class generated ideas!
