Suggestions to promote writing at home:
1. Write to your children.
2. Leave them notes in their lunch boxes, on the
refrigerator, by their pillow.
3. Encourage your child to write and experiment
with writing.
4. Provide plenty of writing materials for writing
- index cards, post its,
lined paper, unlined paper, stationery, envelopes,
etc..
5. Provide your child with a journal for private
writing.
6. Provide a wide variety of writing tools, pens,
pencils, markers, crayons, etc.
7. Praise your child's efforts for writing.
8. Encourage your child to write for real reasons,
to a relative, a friend, etc.
9. Let your child write down your grocery list for
you.
10. Let your child see you writing!
