William Mason Students:

Beginners in grades 3, 4, and 5 - Complete the color coded exercises on pages 14 and 15 while using the bow. 
Red = A string
Blue = D string
Intermediates - All of "One Digit Ditty." 
Grade four students should review pages in book one that show how to play the notes for the E, C, A, D, and G strings.  
Also, work on measures 1-39 of "Rip Roarin' Fiddlin'."
Begin working on "Blue Danube."

      Woodmont Students:

Grade Three - Practice "Jingle Bells" handout for the Holiday Assembly. First play it with pizzicato so you can learn the notes. After you are confident with the notes, play the song using the bow.

Grades Four & Five -  Always warm up with D, C, or G scale which can be found on page 44 of Book II. 
"Jingle Bells" - played pizzicato
"Believe"
"Frosty the Snow Man"
"Jolly Old St. Nicholas" -  Everyone must know part A, even if you are playing another part because the entire orchestra will play part A first and then the song will be played 2 more times with all the parts A - E playing together.

   If you are starting your 2nd year and are renting, make sure that you order Book 2 of Essential Elements 2000 for your instrument.
