![]() French 3Bienvenue à la classe de français ! Welcome to French 3! We will be continuing our study of the French language and French culture this year. We will examine literature, film, music, art, and history. Besides your textbook, you will be watching films, reading works of literature, seeing some of the famous works of art, and listening to different forms of music and various renowned French performers. Besides the regular work in your textbook and workbook, you will be reading French magazines and newspapers, writing papers, making oral presentations, and we will converse in French in class as much as possible. Only by using a language, can you become comfortable with it. Materials required each day in class: Textbook and workbook: Discovering French Blanc Various literary works will be provided for you Ring binder with dividers, paper, and folder (you will receive many handouts, and need a secure place to keep them) French/English dictionary French Club: You are strongly encouraged to join the French Club and participate in all the meetings and activities. WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 14
Monday
You will receive the course expectations (in French), and will translate them to insure that you understand them.
During this week, we will work on the review part of the beginning of the workbook, to determine what you remember, and what we need to reinforce.
There will be both written and oral exercises.
We will be concentrating on numbers, time, calendar dates, and general vocabulary. You will be playing a question-answer game to practice with common vocabulary terms.
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 21
We will continue our review sections from the workbook and the textbook on common verbs and regular and irregular present-tense verb forms.
We will use our on-line magazine of "Think French" to look at French culture, specifically, the education system in France.
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28 We will continue our work on grammar, reading comprehension and answering questions in complete gramatically-correct sentences with Charles and Christine. There will be handouts on definite and indefinite articles, plurals and genders of nouns, and written exercises using these. There will be much reading aloud in order to improve pronunciation.
