Homework--Return to this site often. It may be that I assign another assignment during the week.   Check Teacher Web if you miss a class.  Assignments must be handed in on time.  If you have a difficulty with the homewok because you missed the class you should e-mail me and explain the problem you encountered. 


Week 1: September 14-18, 2009
    Dominican History
  1. For Wednesday, September 16th - Write 5 facts about the Albegensian Heresy
  2. For Thursday, September 17th - Write a paragraph describing Dominic's love for God and for people.  Use specific examples
  3.  For Monday, September 18th - Begin your research on one of the Dominican saints  (names will be given in class)  Include date of birth, place of birth ,description of the time period in which he or she lived, the lifestyle he or she lived, problems or challenges faced and why or how this person became the patron saint for a certain  profession or cause.

                                                                                                                                                                      Week 2: September 21 -25, 2009

  1. For Monday, September 21st - continue your report on a Dominican saint.  Check for details
  2. Choose a word for Peace (other than in English).  We will illustrate that word in class on Wednesday.
  3. For Tuesday, September 22nd - Type your report to present in class on Wednesday.
Week 3: September 28-October 1, 2009
  1.  For Monday, September 28th - complete the information on the Dominican Fact Sheet
  2.  For Tuesday, September 29th - illustrate the Family Tree of the Dominican Order

     1.   For Monday, October 19th - Write 10 statements of things you believe  eg I believe that the beach is the             most perfect place on the earth.
     2.   For Monday, October 19th - Study for quiz: definition of virtue and explain the three theological virtues.
     3.   For Tuesday, October 20th - Read page 15 in your textbook
     4.   For Wednesday, October 21st - Write a pargraph about someone who has been a model of faith for you.
     5.   For Thursday, October 22nd - Answer the following questions:  Do you feel belief in God is reasonable?
           Which proof of God's existence leaves you with the most questions?  Which proof  of God's existence
            answers more of your questions?  Why do you believe in God?

      1.  For Tuesday, October 25th -Study for quiz on Frances Coll - 5 facts about this new Dominican Saint

             November 3 - November 5, 2009
       1.  For Monday, November 2nd- Know the attributes of God
       2.  For Tuesday, November 3rd - Write 2 ways that you recognize God in Creation
       3.  For Wednesday, November 4th - Study for Chapter 1 test

                   Chapter 2 Jesus Christ: Lord and Savior
 
               November 9 - November 12, 2009
        1. For Monday, November 9th - discuss what we know and believe about Jesus Christ
        2. For Tuesday, November 10th - Memorize the verses from St. John about the Word
        3. For Wednesday, November 12th - There are four reasons, according to the Catechism of the           Catholic Church, page 44.  Choose one and explain why it professes what you believe.
        4.  For Thursday, November 14th - Answer the following question: Which title for Jesus best describes how you understand and relate to him.
             Type your response.
 
               November 16 - November 19, 2009
         1. For Monday, November 16th - Know the definitions of Incarnation and the meaning of the word "Gospel"
         2. For Tuesday, November 17th - Find the following verses in the New Testament: John 8:12 - John 10:11 and John 15:5.  Be able to explain these images of Jesus.
         3. For Thursday, November 19th - This may be completed over the week-end - Interview one Catholic.  Ask him/her about their faith in Jesus Christ.  For example, how he/she prays to Jesus; how he/she meets Christ in others; favorite Gospel story and how he/she personally experiences Jesus.  This is worth 40 points

           November 30 - December 3, 2009
       1.  For Tuesday, December 1st - Complete charts on the names, titles and symbols of Jesus.
       2.  For Wednesday, December 2nd - Quiz on the seasons of the liturgical year.
       3.  For Thursday, December 3rd - Creative writing about the "hidden years" of Jesus - when he was a teen-ager.
