AP Biology 2

Summer Assignment: DUE AUGUST 20 Available at AP Handouts.

Please check this site frequently - last update was on Monday August 17 @ 2:11 pm

If you cannot change the font color on the worksheets - submit them in the default font - but highlight your answers in the copies that you print out to submit in your folders the first day of school.  Now We are going to try something new. I would prefer that you send your assignments to the new (very!) Homework Drop Box on Gaggle.  I know this works because several APB students have already submitted their work.  Go to your School Account at Gaggle

Select: Jump to

  • Select: Velocity
  • Select: Jump to menu – Homework Drop Boxes
  • Select: AP Biology
  • Select the correct chapter
  • Select “attach and upload your homework.

Trouble? There probably will be – I, of course, have access only to my own email account – and it works well from there. If you have trouble –

· Make sure you sent me your school address – you will not have access to the dropbox unless I have entered your address

· Let me know – ehirce@msdacademy.org

Tired of the SAT Prep Book? I have an idea - I have created an account for our class at the Freshman Text Website - and you can register yourself there- Here are the directions:

Teacher name: Mrs. Hirce
Class/Group name: AP Bio SAT Review

Class access code: B7988BB4AA553175ED3F
When you enroll or register, type the access code exactly as shown above.
Use all uppercase letters, and include dashes.

REMEMBER TO USE YOUR MSDA EMAIL ACCOUNT ONLY - and give no personal information.

First time users:
To register in SuccessNet:
  1. Go to www.pearsonsuccessnet.com
  2. Click Register
  3. On the first screen, type the class access code above in the access code field.
  4. Follow the instructions to register, and write your user name on the blank line above exactly as you typed it.
  5. At the end of registration process, the SuccessNet login page appears.
  6. Log in by typing your user name and password.

You should be finished with Animated reviews at AP Handouts Vacation I and Vacation II

If you have not completed your review of Genetics and Population Genetics you are behind. Carefully go over powerpoints, Cliffs and the review sheets in your AP Folders that apply to genetics. Each hour you spend on review should be organized – have a reasonable goal ( learn Transcription and Translation or – learn the Hardy Weinberg 5 and review the problems) – and complete it.

The APB curriculum is carefully laid out in the Vacation I and II sheets – as well as your text, powerpoints and Cliffs.

Wednesday

Each night: Spend 15 minutes on Cliffs sample Exams. Take 10 of those minutes to answer 10 multiple choice questions and use the next 5 minutes to correct them immediately. If you got any incorrect – read the explanation. Learn it.

Movement through Plants Chapter 38

Our Lab Day will be a success if we all know what we are doing.

There is only one PreLab and thats posted for Lab 9. The other labs are a little too complicated to use a PreLab. I am relying on you to read them (a few times) and complete the LabBench labs -

Read over labs do complete them on BioCoach. and then go back to the lab book. The labs on LabBench are so well done -

If possible it would be a great idea to print out the BioCoach as you do it. It will be part of your lab report and part of your lab manual at the end of the course.

We will follow the exact protocol of the following labs:

Lab 4: Plant Pigments and Photosynthesis

LabBench: Lab 2 This is an excellent Excellent explanation of our Photosynthesis lab. Please review it. We will perform it exactly as shown (we will not do the marker ink separation). This is a fast-paced lab- and must be complet

Lab 5: Cell Respiration

LabBench: Lab 5 again Excellent animation of the lab protocol we will be following we will use peas not insects.

Lab 3: 3A.2 and 3B.2

You have completed this if not complete it now - you will not be able to complete #3A2 unless I have seen the printout of the mitosis identification.

Lab 1: Exercise E

We may do this exactly as described or a variation of it

Lab: 9 Transpiration

LabBench: Lab 9 : again Excellent.

Im still working on lunch plans Can you please bring your own drinks and any junk/healthy food you care to share we will use L4 as our Buffet

Still working on next weeks schedule so please check back
