Bienvenue à la classe de français ! 2009-2010
Welcome to French 3 Honors - sections 1 and 2!
I am happy that you have chosen to continue your studies of the beautiful
French language. This year, we will progress with our study of French
grammar, as well as literature, culture, history, music, film and current
events through the use of textbooks, literary works, research, and oral
presentations. As we converse and write in French on a daily basis, we will
be developing stronger oral and written communication skills.
Materials required in class:
Textbook and workbook: Discovering French Blanc
Various literary works
Ring binder with dividers, paper, and folder
French/English dictionary
Basic expectations:
1. Attendance, class participation, and completion of all assignments are
essential to a successful academic year.
2. If you are absent, you are responsible for the prompt completion of all
missed work; this includes classwork, homework, tests, quizzes, and projects.
3. Class participation is very important. We are learning a language and
that requires communication and repetition. Everyone makes mistakes, so
don’t be afraid to speak up!
4. Respect and courtesy towards classmates and teachers is expected at all
times.
Grading: You will be graded on all your quizzes, tests, projects, homework,
writing assignments, and oral presentations, as well as class participation,
attitude and behavior. (Refer to MSDA grading policy in student handbook).
All written assignments must be handed in at the beginning of the class on
the day the assignment is due, or it will be considered one day late.
Homework that is not collected is checked at the beginning of each class in
order to receive credit. Since we go over this homework in class, it may
not be handed in late.
Teacher Web: All assignments, as well as my schedule and any other
important information, are posted daily on the Teacher Web. Be sure to
check regularly, especially when absent.
French Club: You are strongly encouraged to join the French Club and
participate in all the meetings and activities. It is a fun way to learn
more about the French world. It is also one of the requirements for
membership in the French Honor Society.
Remedial: If you experience any problems or difficulties, I will be happy
to help you. We can meet before or after school, or during the day at a
mutually convenient time.
I look forward to an enjoyable and rewarding year of French with you. If
you need to contact me, please call: 973-226-0660, ext. 1168, or email:
