 COURSE DESCRIPTION:  Welcome to Holocaust and Genocide.  This year you are 
going to learn not only about the Nazi holocaust, but also about people in 
other parts of the world who have been victims of hate, prejudice, 
discrimination and genocide.  You will feel many different emotions in 
class this year, the lessons you learn will remain with you for a lifetime.

  COURSE EXPECTATIONS:
   Daily attendance is essential and class participation is expected. This 
course demands a great deal of class participation, you definitely have to be 
involved. You are responsible for all work covered in class, when absent it  
it is your responsibility to obtain the notes and to make up any assigned 
work, tests, 
quizzes in a timely manner. (Review Handbook)

  SUPPLIES: Notebook, type is left up to you, it is to be brought to class 
every day.  A folder is recommended for class to keep tests, quizzes and 
handouts, there will be many handouts given to you over the course of the 
year.

  HOMEWORK:  Written homework may not be assigned every night, but you MUST 
keep up with all readings and review your notes nightly. Written 
assignments are to be done on the computer, but do not use more than a 12 
font. Some assignments I will allow you to hand write, but it must be on 
white lined paper, using only black or blue ink. Many assignments for this 
class will be computer based, so we will spend some class periods in the 
library or computer lab.  
   Remeber you cannot use computer problems as an excuse for handing things 
in late. Late is late 
and will result in a lower grade!!!! DO NOT E MAIL me assignments, they are 
to be handed to me directly, if you leave it on my desk or have it put in my 
mailbox, you do so at your own risk. (This year you can use the homework drop 
box to e mail an assignment.

  GRADING:  You will be evaluated based on tests,quizzes, homework, essays, 
projects and class participation. (Review policy in handbook) Because of the 
nature of this course and subject matter there will be more essays, 
reflections and projects than actual tests and quizzes. In lieu of 
exams you will have a major project at the end of each semester, everyone 
will do the project regardless of your grades. 

  I am available for help before and after school.  All you need to do is ask
and we will be able to work something out. 
  I am looking forward to teaching you all this year, I know you will get 
much from this course, and much of what you learn will stay with you all of 
your life.
