US HISTORY I

  UNITED STATES HISTORY I                    MRS. SAFKO

     COURSE DESCRIPTION:
      Welcome to United States History I. Your journey this year in 
American History will begin with the exploration of the New World and end 
with the United States engaged in the Civil War.
  We will see the US emerging from 13 colonies to 13 United States,the 
formation of the Constitution,the dream of Manifest Destiny,the issues over 
slavery culminating in secession, the nation divided and the great Civil War. 

    TEXT: AMERICA,PATHWAYS TO THE PRESENT
          Outside readings will be assigned during the year

    COURSE EXPECTATIONS:
      Daily attendance is essential and class participation is expected.  
You are responsible for all work covered in class, when absent it is your 
responsibility to obtain the notes and to make up any assigned work, tests, 
quizzes in a timely manner. (Review Handbook)

    SUPPLIES: Notebook is required, the type is up to you, I would suggest 
though that you have one that you use only for History as you will fill it 
up!!!!!! 
You will also need a folder to keep tests, quizzes, handouts etc. It is not 
necessary to bring your textbook to every class, I will inform you when we 
will be using it in class.

    ASSIGNMENTS/HOMEWORK:
     Written homework may not be given every night, but you must keep up 
with the readings, review your notes nightly. Written assignments may be 
done on the computer at any time, but do not use more than a 12 font. 
Remember, you cannot use computer problems as an excuse for handing things 
in late. Late is late and will result in a lower grade!!!!!  
  All assignments are to be given tome directly,if you e mail you must use 
the drop box on gaggle. 
  If you leave it on my desk or in my mailbox, you do so at 
your own risk!! Do not be afraid to ask questions when and if you do not 
understand the material.

     GRADING: You will be evaluated based on tests, quizzes, homework, 
essays,projects and class participation. (Review policy in handbook)

     I am available both before and after school for help. JUST ASK!!!
     
\    I am looking forward to teaching you all this year and I promise you 
that even if history is your least favorite subject, you will definitely 
change yourn mind by June!!!!!!!!
