¡Bienvenidas a la clase de Español!!!
Class Expectations:
- Attendance, class participation and completion of assignments are essential.
- If you are absent, you are responsible for all missed work; this includes class work, homework, test, quizzes, and projects. In order to obtain credit for what you missed, it must be completed by the next time the class meets.
- Class participation is extremely important, learning a language requires hands on work and a lot of repetition. Dont worry about making mistakes!
- Practice your Spanish at least 15 to 20 minutes every day (even if no homework has been assigned). The more you practice the more comfortable you get and the more you learn.
- All assignments are due the next time the class meets; unless otherwise indicated. Homework must be shown or handed in , if required, at the beginning of each class in order to receive credit for it.
Grading:
You will be graded on all your homework, quizzes, projects and class participation. Everything counts, because in order to learn a language all aspects are important.
Assignments:
All assignments are posted daily on the Teacher Web.
If you are having problems or difficulties, I will be more than happy to help you. Make an appointment with me, and we can meet before or after school, or even during the day at a mutual convenient time.

- “Cajas de cartón” - write a paragraph giving your opinion on the story, and
another one describing your thoughts on illegal immigartion in the USA -
Due Friday, 09/25 (30 pts+ 10 pts for class discussion, which will also take
place on Friday 09/25). (Total 40 pts).
09/17/2009 - Handout "The subjunctive mood" - Read and do exercices pp. 134-138
(including ex. 13-7).
09/18/2009 - Handout "The subjunctive mood" - Read the handout and complete the rest of the
exercices.
- Watch TV (Spanish speaking) for 15 to 20 minutes. Be ready to share with the class in
spanish.

09/21/2009 - Finish handout on Subjunctive.
09/22/2009 - By hand, copy the conjugations of irregular verbs in Present Subjunctive (pg. 139
handout), then write and type 5 sentences using each of the verbs (except "haber"),
one verb per sentence (in subjunctive) - Total of 5 sentences - to be handed in (10 pts).
- Make sure ejercicios 13-9 nad 13-10 on pg. 139 are done by next class.
09/24/2009 - Choose 2 verbs from each group (pp. 140, 141 in the handout) and write a sentence
with each. (2 reflecting denial, doubt, disbelief or uncertainty; 2 expressing advice,
command or suggestion; 2 communicating attitudes, feelings or emotions; 2 expressing
hope, wish, or preference; 2 asking permission and 1 expressing surprise).
Total of 11 sentences - Must be typed - (33 pts). Due Monday.
