Along with spring, the fourth marking period has arrived! We are again doing SRC books. All books have to be returned to the media center by June 6, 2008. Their choice of books is limited to the following:


Only one (1) book report will be required for this marking period. That book report will be on one of the SRC books read including a SRC test passed (meeting the requirements mentioned above) and due on Monday, June 2, 2008. A book map, time log, and class presentation will be part of the report. The emphasis of this book report will be making a creative connection to the book.

Scholastic Reading Counts Book Report - Creativity Unleashed

The purposes of this book report are threefold:
to review highlights of one of the Scholastic Reading Counts book
to allow for an artistic expression of ideas
to develop a creative presentation of the story

In order to accomplish these purposes, the student will:
read the entire book during the 4th marking period
take and pass the computer test on one of the student-chosen Scholastic Reading Counts books (7 right out of 10 possible)
complete the project as described below
present the project in class

Project description
A book /story map must be completed.
A log of time spent on the project must be completed.
Since this is the last book report for the year, a creative representation of the book is required. A written report is NOT acceptable. A creative presentation of the book could be a poem, song, picture, painting, sculpture, craft, game, cartoon, travel brochure, mobile, diorama, puppet show, game show, television commercial, etc.

Grading Criteria ( 30 points)
Reading of the entire book (3 points)
Test passed (3 points)
Book/Story map complete (4 points)
Project (15 points)
Clear connection to the story (5 points)
How does this project relate to the book that the student read?
Time log (10 points)-must be signed by parent/guardian
3 hours (10 points)
2 1/2 hours (9 points)
2 hours (8 points)
1/1/2 hours ( 7 points)
1 hour (6 points)
1/2 hour (5 points)
Presentation (5 points)

Points will deducted for grammar errors, late work, and/or untidy appearance of paper.
