In the past month, the children have learned in religion that pre-K is an
exciting place to be, they will learn many new things, meet new friends, and
they are encouraged to help one another in Preschool. We all have families
that we belong to that love and care for us. The children have also been
working on making the Sign of the Cross correctly. Along with our morning
prayer, we say Grace before meals and pray to Our Guardian Angel.
In math, we have been working on identifying and describing the attributes
of color, size, and shape among sets of concrete objects and images. We have
compared items or sets to explain how they are alike or different and begun
to make patterns with cubes and links as well as color, cut and glue
activities.
Language Arts: We are introduced to letters Ll, Hh, Ff, Tt and Pp,
letter/sound matching, and recognition of the letters. We listen to poems and
practice fingerplays such as "5 Freckled Frogs" and "Five Little Pumpkins".
Some of the stories we have heard were "The Little Red Hen Makes Pizza", "I
Can't Get My Turtle to Move", "Harold and the Purple Crayon". and "Pumpkin,
Pumpkin". Along with reading our color words each day. remember to help your
child learn the letters in his/her name.
Social/Science: We are learning about the life cycle of the pumpkin seed, our
weather, and seasons.
These items are just a few of the many activities we have been doing since
school started.
