The children write their homework each night in their homework book. I feel that this is a skill that is beneficial in many ways. It allows them to establish a daily routine, it develops their writing skills, and it reinforces their responsibility of making sure that they have all their homework written, bringing their homework book home, showing it to you, getting it signed, and doing it each night. Spelling homework will be assigned on a weekly basis. New words will come home on Monday. The first 5 words will be written 3x each on Monday , on Tuesday the next 5 words 3x each and on Wednesday you'll pick 3 words and write one sentence for each. Thursday night is a study night for Friday tests. Test have begun, and you will be receiving a test folder approximately every other week. Please sign the test sheet and return in the folder the following day. If you have any questions about your child's tests, please let me know. Math homework will be assigned M, T, W, Th. This HW will come from our skinny math, usually only 1 page per night. No Math Homework. 12/17/09 Children must study their addition and subtraction facts each night. They should know their addition and subtraction facts up to and including 12. We will also practice these facts in school each day. The best way to do this is by making flash cards. Please check your childs HW Book each night to see if there are any changes. It is important that the children do their HW each night, and that they return it to school the next day. Starting the first week of December if your child does not bring completed HW to school the following day a point will be taken off their math or spelling grade for homework. I will always make allowances for special circumstances. Thank you! Santa's workshop is scheduled for Thursday, December 10 at 10:15.
