Contingency PlanThree Week Contingency Plans Mrs. C. Richard Grade 4 Religion: Remember your classmates and teacher in your prayers each day. Week 1: Each day, visit the Sadlier website (www.webelieveweb.com). Click on “Students” and go to “Postcards from the Vatican”. Choose the current entry or one from the archive. Read the article and write a few sentences about what you have learned. Week 2: Each day visit the Sadlier website. (See above.) Click on “Students” and then select “Grade 4”. Choose and play a game/activity from the units which we have covered in school. Tell the name of the game and write what you liked about it. Week 3: Each day visit EWTN Kids (www.ewtn.com/ewtnkids). Choose and play an activity. Write the name of the activity and what you learned from it. Math: Do each assignment daily. Week 1:Visit the Sadlier website (www.sadlier-oxford.com). Click on the student link and play Math Minutes. Work on improving your facts!! Then choose a vocabulary activity. Remember practice makes perfect! J Week 2: Visit the Sadlier website (see above). Click on the student link and select practice activities for the chapter we are currently working on. (Then try one from a chapter we already finished.) Week 3: Each day go back to the Sadlier website for a few minutes and choose another activity to work on. Then write a word problem which we will share at school later on. Writing, Grammar and Spelling: Keep a daily journal. Each entry should contain at least 5 sentences. (Date your entry and write neatly.) Write about your family, friends, pets or any experiences of the day. When you finish, be sure to check capitalization and punctuation. Check and correct any spelling mistakes by looking in the dictionary. Week 1:Each day make a list of all of the common nouns in your journal entry. Then write the plural form of each noun. For fun and practice… try playing the game, “The Plural Girls”, on (www.funbrain.com). Learn to spell the names of the first 10 of New Jersey’s 21 counties. Week 2: Each day choose 2 declarative sentences from your journal entry and rewrite them as interrogative sentences. Learn to spell the last 11 county names. Week 3:Learn to spell the names of the original 13 colonies. Each day write 1 imperative and 1 exclamatory sentence. Use one of the colony names in each sentence. Reading: Choose a chapter book to read daily. Pick one that you will enjoy! Week 1: Read each day. Keep a list of the characters and write a brief description of each. Week 2: Continue reading each day. Write a short summary of the book. Include the setting and a few sentences to explain the plot. Week 3:Be sure to finish reading your book. Design, draw and color a new front cover for the book you have been reading. Choose one of your favorite scenes from the story for the illustration. Science: Week 1: Watch the weather forecast each day during the week. Keep a written record of the high and low temperatures. Record the type of precipitation if any that we receive each day, as well as the weather conditions. Ex: cloudy, bright sunshine, etc. Week2: Make a bar graph which displays your results for the weather conditions. (# of cloudy days, # of bright sunny days, # of rainy days, etc.) Week 3: Make a line graph which shows how temperature changed from day to day during week 1. Use the daily high temperatures which you recorded. Social Studies: Week 1: Visit the following website: (www.co.camden.nj.us). Read the article: “A Brief History of Camden County”. Make a time line of the events mentioned in the article. Week 2: Visit the following website: (www.hadrosaurus.com) and read to learn about our local dinosaur. Write a paragraph about what you have learned. Draw and color a picture of the dinosaur. Week 3: Do an internet search and find the website for your town. Make a list of 10 facts which you learn from that site. |
