Contingency Plans

              Three Week Contingency Plans

Religion: Please for your school family

   Week 1: Every day say a decade of the Rosary with your family. Write the
mystery and draw a picture about it.

    Week 2: Each day visit the Sadlier website (www.webeleveweb.com). Click on
“Students” and then select “Grade 2”. Choose and play a game/activity from the
units which we have covered in school. Tell the name of the game and write
what you liked about it.

     Week 3: ..Design and draw a poster for: I am a Follower of Jesus. 
           ..Write a “Thank you” prayer to God for all the gifts He has given you.
           .. Write three sentences about respecting others.
           ..Choose and read a Bible story. Draw a picture about it and write
three sentences about what you learned.

Math:

     Week 1: Each day write and solve three addition and subtraction problems.
Visit the website: www.funbrain.com. Choose and play some  games. Try
different levels and challenge yourself.


     Week 2: Each day visit the Sadlier website
(www.sadlier-oxford.com) Click on the student link and play math games. Work
on improving your facts. Make a pattern using three different shapes. Make a
bar graph telling how many computers, TV, and telephones you have in your house.

     Week 3: Each day ask your mom to write a word problem for you to solve.
Visit “Funbrain.com or “Sadlier.com” click on the student link and play math
games. Draw a picture of something using just shapes.





Grammar:

    Week 1: Each day write four sentences. Give an example of each: statement,
question, command, and exclamation. Write ten common nouns and ten proper nouns.

   Week 2: Write a letter to a family member.
    Write about what you do everyday. Write five things you like to do when
you are at home. Write a short story about your pet. Write at least five
sentences.

  Week 3: Write five sentences about your favorite sport.
Write a short story about one of your family members. Write about your
favorite movie, explain why you like it. Remember to check capitalization,
spelling and punctuations.

  Spelling: 

        Week 1: Write the days of the week and the months of the year. Write a
word for something in your house that begins with each letter of the alphabet.
Write the name of the months in alphabetical order.
       
         Week 2: Write the month of your birthday. See how many words you can
make out using the letters in the month. Look in a magazine or newspaper and
cut out ten words that are new to you and learn their meaning. Make a poster
with your new words.

          Week 3: Write a word for an object that has a short vowel sound
(a,e,i,o,u)
                         Write a word for an object that has a long vowel sound.
                          Write ten two syllable words. Choose ten words from
the book you are reading.
 

Reading: 
      
         Week 1: Pick and read a fiction book. Write five sentences about what
you read. Draw a picture of your favorite part. List five words that were new
to you. 

         Week 2: Watch a TV show. Write three sentences about it. Tell what
problem there was and how was it solved.
Read the directions for making your favorite dessert.
Read for fifteen minutes each day.

         Week 3: Read a nonfiction book. Tell a relative about the book. Draw
a picture that goes with the story. Write five new words you learned from the
story.
Write a sentence for each new word.

Science:

     Week 1: Watch the weather report each day. Keep a written record of the
high and low temperature. Describe the kind of weather we had each day. At the
end of the week, use the information to make a bar graph to show the high and
low temperature for each day.
      
    Week2: Pick five different kinds of animals. Write three facts about each
of them, draw their picture.

   Week 3: Keep a list of what you eat every day. Divide the foods into groups
and tell what food was healthier. Write five sentences explaining why we
should eat healthy foods.



Relax your body.
 
Feed your brain by learning something new every day.

Help around the house.

Pray every day.
