 Emergency School Closing Emergency Plans for a school closing Mrs. Schmidt 6th, 7th and 8th grade Social Studies Week One Watch a Program on the History Channel or PBS that covers a topic in history, your choice. On a sheet of paper either typed on in longhand you must have the following information Your name Name of Program Channel you watched it on Date the program aired Time shown Write a summary of the program. Make sure you include at least 3 facts that you learned. Extra Credit write at least 6 facts. Your summary should be a well written paragraph. Minimum 10 sentences. You will be graded on clarity, spelling, punctuation, capitalization and grammar. Week Two and Three Read a book about any topic in history. The book can be an historical novel or a non-fiction selection such as a biography. Write a 1-2 page book report. If you type it must be one page single spaced. Font size 12, only color to be used is black. If you write it out in longhand, must be cursive, legible, in blue or black ink. It must be 2 pages in length. You must include a summary of the book You must include your reasons for choosing the book and whether you liked it or not. You will be graded on clarity, spelling, punctuation, capitalization and grammar. Religion Week One Do research about Father Damien of Molaki. He was recently made a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. Write a report about his life. If you got information from the internet about him, print that out and attach it to your report. The reason I am asking you to do this is because you cannot plagiarize. Any research information you find about Fr. Damien you must reword. It should be in your words not the computers. Again spelling, punctuation, grammar, capitalization and clarity of thought will count. The report should be typed in black ink, font size 12 and single spaced or written out in longhand in your best penmanship. Week Two and Three Watch 2 different programs on the EWTN channel. Write up 2 different reports, one for each program watched.
