I will use these rubrics to grade all assignments. If you complete each check mark, you will receive a satisfactory grade.
Revolutionary War Cartoon Social Studies Project Due Tuesday, May 27 Choose 1 battle from the Revolutionary War to draw a cartoon about. The battle must be from your textbook p 97-114. /2 Draw 3 frames or more. (Frames look like boxes.) /3 Explain the major events of the battle by drawing descriptive pictures. /6 Write captions (sentences underneath the pictures) to explain what is happening in each picture. /9 Choose characters that are accurate for the battle. For example, if you chose The Battle of Trenton, make sure you include George Washington. /6 Draw speech bubbles that tell what the characters are saying in each frame. Write the characters'words inside the bubbles. /6 Check spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. /6 Use your best manuscript handwriting. /4 Total Points: /42
Language Arts and Social Studies Project Time Capsule Writing due Monday, June 2 Presentation due Tuesday, June 3 Write 10 creative questions before the interview begins. /10 Ask the person about how the time of his/her childhood was different from 2008. For example, what technologies (inventions) did the person not have that we have now? /5 Ask about his/her favorite activities as a child that are different from activities of 2008. /5 Ask about special adventures/stories from the person's life that are interesting. /5 Write a story about the person's life. Rewrite your interview notes as full sentences. Combine the sentences to write a story that makes sense. /10 Begin with a strong sentence to introduce who the person is. /2 At the end of the story, tell why you admire the person. /2 Write 25 sentences or more total. You can do this by writing 2 or 3 sentences to answer each interview question. /15 Check spelling. /5 Check punctuation and capitalization. /5 Divide the story into paragraphs. Indent at the beginning of each paragraph. /5 Type the final draft of your story. You do not need to type the interview questions, but you need to turn them in. /2 Read your story aloud at the Time Capsule Event.
