7th Grade Life Science
Welcome to seventh grade! These are the expectations and procedures for the class. I am looking forward to having a great year!
We are going to have a very busy and exciting year. Throughout the year we will focus on different aspects of life science and make connections between the many topics. We will start the year off with ecology and how humans affect our environment. Next we will study cells and genetics, leading into life over time. Through studying the diversity of living things,
we will look at the structure and function of single-celled organisms to humans. We will end the year with human biology.
Class Materials
Always bring a pencil, pen, agenda, and your notebook to class.
Class Procedures
Expectations
Treat everyone with respect
Engage in your best work
Act appropriately
Make others feel comfortable
These procedures and expectations will allow us to have an exciting and successful year in science!
Consequences
1st time = verbal warning
2nd time = 15 minute detention
3rd time = longer detention and parent/guardian notification
4th time = referral to the vice principal
Homework
Homework will be assigned and checked the day it is due. Each homework assignment will be worth ten points. If the homework is completed you will earn the ten points, if it is partially completed or late you will receive 5 points, and if you do not complete the assignment you will not earn any points. After ten homework assignments you will receive a homework graph with your percentage on the past ten assignments. You must graph your grade and have it signed by a parent or guardian. If you do not have your homework in class you must fill out a homework form that explains why you did not complete the assignment.
Absences
If you are absent, you must check your class's folder for missing work. You should also ask me what you missed in class. You are responsible for all work when you are absent. You have one day for everyday that you are absent to make up work.
Grading
You will receive grades for quizzes, tests, labs, homework, and participation and effort. Grading will be based on a point system where the points that you earned will be divided by the total possible points earned. 5% of your grade will be based on participation and effort. You can check with me throughout each marking period for your effort grade.
