About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
This year I will be embarking upon my sixth year as a Language Arts teacher in Scotch Plains. I began at Terrill as a sixth grade Reading teacher before moving over to Park Middle where I have been teaching Language Arts for the past three years. Before making the decision to become a teacher, I practiced law for a number of years, but was fortunate enough to come to the realization that teaching was my true calling. My decision to return to school for yet another degree (English and then a Masters in Education) was absolutely the right choice. Although I've been certified since I began my career, I received my master's degree in education this past May. Maya Angelou, one of my favorite writers, was my commencement speaker. Seeing her in person was awesome. In addition to teaching, I am busy in many other areas of my life. I have a husband, three children and a crazy dog who all keep me going during my after school hours. My oldest child is Andrew, who just graduated from the University of Maryland and who is now commuting each day to his job in New York City. Next is Jenna who will be a junior at the University of Michigan and the third is Stephanie, a junior in high school. Mr. Skoller works hard as an attorney in New York. Last, but certainly not least, is Niko, my nutty almost 7 year old labradoodle who just loves to play and go to the dog park any chance he can. When I'm not grading papers and preparing lesson plans, in my spare time, I like to read (currently I'm on the third book in the Harry Potter series), exercise (I'm training for a triathlon which takes place on September 13th) and spend time with my family.

Mission
As we begin a fresh, new school year, I look forward to meeting and welcoming my new sixth graders as we take the first step together on our sixth grade journey - a year during which I hope we will all learn, grow and thrive. Ready or not, here we go!
