When is homework due?

Homework is typically due the next day, unless another date is given.
Although homework is listed on this website, students are still responsible
for writing the homework down in the Assignment Book in the event that
changes are made during the school day.

How do I know how to complete the Current Events assignment?

Each child was issued a Current Events packet in the beginning of the year.
Every child is responsible for researching a current event in the world,
nation, or local area and presenting it to the class. A schedule for each
month can be found on the "Current Event Due Days" section of this website.
Students must bring in their Current Event article and activity to present
to the class on their designated day. The activity choices allow each child
to decide how he/she would like to express the idea through a creative
format. The choices are as shown: summary, Poster Time, Rhyme or Reason, or
a Headline Poem (see Current Events packet for more detailed
descriptionts). The same choice cannot be made in back-to-back months. Be
creative!
Articles and presentations will be made to the class, and the students will
vote for the TOP 2 Current Events each week. Happy Hunting!

How can I earn extra credit towards my final grade in different subjects?

Students have various opportunities to earn extra credit. For instance,
students may correct their Math Pre-Test for extra points towards their Unit
Test score. Students may also complete the Home/School Connection in their
Science Journals for extra points towards a unit test. For a Reading grade
boost, students may respond to a piece of classical music using the same
format as the Reading reaction responses. For a Writing grade, students may
write extra credit poems.

Be sure to check out the different subject icons for more information. You
can respond to a piece of classical music, cook a colonial treat, etc. If
you have any questions, please see me.

What do I do if I miss class due to a band lesson?

All students are responsible for making up the work they miss when they
attend a band lesson. Those in-class assignments become homework, and are
due the next day.

What happens if I forget to hand in homework when it is due?

Students that forget to complete homework, leave it at home, etc. fill out
a "Homework Diary" sheet that day. The student records why the homework is
not done, and the sheet is returned to me. When the assignment is
completed, that date is recorded on the sheet as well. Once three
assignments have been missed (and eventually turned in), the Homework Diary
sheet is stapled to that week's Weekly Report for the parent to review and
sign.
