	Algebra 1 (Prentice Hall Mathematics)

GRADING
Grading will occur on a variety of assignments, including in class
assignments, notebook, homework, group work, tests, quizzes, pop-quizzes,
and participation.
Scores will be recorded into my computer/grade book, and assignments
will then be returned back to you.
It is your responsibility to keep track of your grades. If you have
a question or concern about your grade, you must make an appointment with
me. I will be happy to discuss any grade issues that you may have.

ASSIGNMENTS
All assignments are due the next day that the class meets unless
specified otherwise.
Late assignments will be collected with a grade deduction. Work that
is late (not due to absence) will be downgraded five (5) points per day of
lateness. After five late days, the work will no longer be accepted, and
the grade for the assignment will be recorded as a zero.
If you are absent, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find out what you
missed, including in class notes and homework assignments.
MAKEUP WORK POLICY
Please remember that it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to inquire about
missed work due to absence and to make up missed tests/quizzes.
You will have three (3) class days to make up missed work; after
three class days, the grade will be recorded as a zero. (In exceptional
cases, individual arrangements may be made.)
For missed tests, it is your responsibility to meet with me and
schedule a time that you can take the test. You MUST talk with me the day
you return to my class.

RULES
Be on time! You must be in your seat and ready to work when the bell
rings.
Be prepared! Bring daily-required materials to class every day.
Be respectful!! Disrespect will not be tolerated in my classroom.
The teacher dismisses the class, not the bell!
No portable electronic devices (except for calculators) are to be
used in my class. If found, the item will be confiscated and returned at
the end of class.

MATERIALS
	A notebook with perforated pages
Pencils. NO pens are to be used.
	Textbook
	Folder

GRADING POLICY
Grades will be averaged based on your raw score of all work.
o	For example:
	Test	90 out of 100
	Quiz	45 out of 50
	Quiz	22 out of 25
	Project	80 out of 100
	Homework	5 out of 5
	Homework	8 out of 10
Total:	250 out of 290 = 86

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
It is expected that each student will complete his/her own work. Any
sharing, copying or borrowing from a fellow student is considered cheating
and will not be tolerated.

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER
Respect yourself and everyone around you. Always be considerate of
your peers.
	Be tolerant and open-minded.
Ask questions; share your thoughts; express yourself (appropriately).
If something is bothering you that interferes with your achievement,
please tell me. Lets try to eliminate all unnecessary stress.
My goal is for you to succeed!!
