Attendance:
The value of a well rounded education depends upon full participation in the classroom. Because students are expected not merely to receive information passively or to pass examinations, but to participate actively in class, it is important that unnecessary class absences be avoided. Students are expected to be in class eager, willing, and able to learn on a daily basis. Should there be some serious reason that a student can not attend class and absence can not be avoided, he or she will be given the opportunity to complete any missed work. However, it is the students’ responsibility to retrieve the work and hand it in for credit.
Homework/Learning Extensions
v Homework is assigned on a daily basis. It is either on the board all ready when the students come in for their lesson or assigned during the course of the lesson
v Homework does count towards a final grade in the class
v Complete homework on time! No late homework is acceptable for any reason. Homework is on the website and in the event of an absence, the student is STILL RESPONSIBLE for the work
v Larger assignments will receive five point deductions for each day late. After the 5th day the assignment the student will receive a ZERO
v For full credit, complete ALL PARTS of the assignments as instructed by the teacher or in the written directions.
v All work it to be completed neatly. Illegible handwriting or homework completed on torn or ratty paper is not acceptable
Academic Honestly
The purpose of an academic institution is to encourage young minds to grow academically and socially to become productive and intellectual members of society. The hope is, to instill honesty and truth upon students by maintaining academic integrity though the curriculum.
Definition of Academic Dishonestly:
Claiming other’s ideas as one’s own, failing to acknowledge their ideas, and engaging in other unethical practices that seriously disrupt the pursuit of truth is considered academic dishonestly, and has no place in the classroom..
Cheating, includes but is not limited to:
v Copying from other students’ work
v Using books, notes, or other devices not clearly permitted
v Communicating or answers or parts of answers during a test
Plagiarism has been committed whenever a student submits as his or her own work any material taken from others, whether printed, electronic, or oral; whether quoted directly or paraphrased, without proper acknowledgement and documentation. Copying the work of other students, where in hand copy or electronic form, is included in this definition.
